What probably happened here is that the same company that owns People Magazine (or an affiliated company) has a TV special or something coming out soon with Blake Shelton. They realized his name needs some more push behind it since no one gives a fuck about The Voice anymore (is that even still on TV). So they pulled some strings or paid a lot of money and Blake Shelton is the sexiest man alive now despite being decidedly plain. I mean, Blake Shelton could walk into a room of 20 to 30 people and he's probably not even the sexiest man in that room. This all boils down to marketing.
