I'm not really sure how to feel that that was cut, on the one hand it makes sense as it would kind of undermine Anakin's turn to the darkside and show that he is still somewhat good on the inside, even going so far as to want or need the jedi and their light to help him but on the other hand that is what vader is supposed to be, a broken man who has fallen into deep dark pit of despair and anger which he cannot escape from alone.
To me, it was a really big moment for Anakin's fall. After dueling his master, getting dismembered by him, and laying next to a river of lava, he is still so consumed by the dark side he has nothing but hate. No remorse, no pain, no desire for mercy. He is nothing but hate and you can tell Anakin is gone. It's just Vader now.
