Wow, I feel sorry for you mate, you posted a nice picture of your Dad showing more dedication and service to his country than most people here (myself included) and look what reddit brought.

Just to clear up some confusion for the Americans, he's not an American soldier, the crown on the cap gave that away. November the 11th is Remembrance Day in some commonwealth countries (including Canada), although fun fact we call it Armistice Day in the UK and Remembrance Sunday is the closest sunday to that date.
