Another popular show is leaving Netflix as part of the end of an agreement with 20th Century Fox.

Don’t kill the messenger but one of the most popular shows is leaving Netflix next month and will leave a huge void in the comedy section. Every season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is leaving Netflix in December as the licensing rights expire. The FX show was expected to leave following the exit of several other shows housed under the 20th Century Fox umbrella, but now we have the date. All 12 seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will be plucked on Dec. 8. The date comes from What’s on Netflix’s Kasey Moore.

While it’s been believed for many months that It’s Always Sunny and other Fox and FX shows would be leaving, it doesn’t make the news any less of a bummer. At least, we have the date now so fans can dedicate some time to binge-watching the hilarious show before it’s off Netflix.

Fans of the show will be able to continue watching the show on Hulu which won the rights to the lot of shows from 20th Century Fox that have been slowly plucked from the Netflix inventory. Shows like Bob’s Burgers, Louie, Bones, Family Guy, Futurama, House, The X-Files and others were popular shows fans watched on Netflix but have seen them gradually removed as the titles expired.

This also means any and all future seasons of It’s Always Sunny will not be coming to Netflix. Of course, we have seen some last-minute stays of execution before, including earlier this year with fellow FX series American Horror Story which had seasons set to expire but Netflix was able to secure a renewal to keep the show on Netflix. Having said that, it’s not something to bank on and should be viewed as a Hail Mary attempt.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ranks on our list of the 50 best comedies, so when it’s gone there will be a void to fill. What show do you think should join the list in December?
