I've been to Lightnig Ridge a few times. It's a very interesting little place.
It's population sign has a '?' instead of a number , it has a small museum of opalised dinosaur fossils, rediculously impressive opal shops, and an opal mine that the owner transformed into an elaborate sandstone gallery, called The Chambers of the Black Hand.
It's about 12 hours drive from Sydney. Top/middle of NSW.
