You're not wrong, but the "team" mentality is a large part of what's wrong with American politics, from an outsider's perspective. I was in the US during the election season and watching political coverage was like watching Superbowl coverage. Lots of talk of strategy and tactics and numbers, but not a damn thing about policy or anything of substance.
