Sports have a unique way of rallying a city. I'll never forget the atmosphere of the crowd when the Saints first played back in the Superdome after Katrina.

At first I said “why? And why is that dude watching the game in his garage?” Then I realized. Great picture.

I love it how sports can bring people together regardless of political affiliation, religion, race, etc.

As a Houstonian, and for those unaware, one of the largest furniture dealers in the city had a promotion that if the Astros won the world series their purchases would be refunded in full. So Astros win: free mattresses. The owner is nicknamed "Mattress Mack" and was on the frontline when it came to providing support for Harvey victims. (He opened his massive store as a shelter during the storm, allowing families to stay indefinitely until they could return to their homes and he even sent out his furniture trucks to rescue victims.)

With the win, over 10 million dollars will be refunded to people who took part in the promotion. http://time.com/money/5007025/astros-world-series-mattress-mack-gallery-furniture-rebates-customers-10-million/
