One of the most entertaining World Series in recent memory has come to an end.

The Houston Astros have won their first ever World Series, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7.

Houston took an early lead, with LA going without a run until the sixth inning.

After falling two games behind at the start of the series, the Astros certainly made their city proud as they came back to win it all. Playing for a city still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, and wearing an H Strong logo on their jerseys, the Astros brought home the prize that had eluded them since they started out in 1962 as the Colt .45s.

Records were also set during the night when outfielder George Springer tied with baseball greats Reggie Jackson and Chase Utley for scoring the most home runs in a World Series with 5. He became the first player to homer in four consecutive games in the same World Series.

Springer was also named World Series MVP.

Springer also set World Series records for extra-base hits with eight and total bases with 29, a stark contrast to his 0-for-4, four-strikeout performance in Game 1 after which Astros manager A.J. Hinch fielded questions about whether he would consider dropping him from the leadoff spot.

To add to the sweet moment, shortstop Carlos Correa has another surprise in store for his girlfriend Daniella live on camera. While talking with Fox Sports after the game, Correa said he was ready to take another big step in his life. He turned around and dropped to one knee asking her to marry him.

We're happy to report she said yes.

Congrats to the Correa's! #WorldSeries https://t.co/SgRGw0NVGZ — FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) November 2, 2017

There's an asshole at work that intentionally steps in front of me every morning. He wears a knit Dodgers hat. I can't wait to see him tomorrow.

This was great World Series. Every game except for this one was a battle. Fucking game five was crazy. I didn't think it was ever going to end.
