I have felt for a very long time living near the largest city in Canada that the people who apparently appreciate our great country more than any other group are first generation immigrants.
This kind of attitude is common among immigrants from poor countries or areas. I work in hospitality and one of our housekeepers at my last hotel had been working at the hotel for 11 years when I started. You could not get that guy to stop working. He worked as many hours as he could, then had two other jobs. He was so grateful for the opportunities he had here.
