If the lawnmower was running too, it would have happened faster.

I remember reading or hearing a story similar to this. I forgot whether it was online or from my uncle but never mind that. Some guy had gotten fired from his job and was planning on killing himself so that his family could claim insurance money and he would leave something for his family to help pay off their debts and his kid's education. They found the guy dead in his garage with his car turned on. However, the door from the garage to inside the house wasn't airtight so all of the carbon monoxide leaked into the house also, killing his wife and his children when they were asleep.

Edit: So I have been searching for this story online and I have only found a ton of incidents similar to this. Single dad bought a generator to keep his 7 kids warm, leaving it on and killing all of them. Dad kills his family after they succumb to monoxide poisoning trying to save him. It is terrible brutal to think about and it surprised me how often this happens. Please be careful around exhaust and please seek assistance if you are thinking of suicide, people do care.
