When I was a child I saw a picture of this staircase in an architecture book. I've wanted to see it for myself ever since. It was fabulous - and just as grand as I imagined!

As I was leaving, Waldemar Januszczak (art critic / television host) and his film crew rushed up the staircase. They were filming for an upcoming television series - I can only suppose. Initially I couldn't place him and just as I was about to leave I called out, "I know you - you did Sculpture Diaries" I then added very casually, "It was pretty good." Bewildered he thanked me and carried on with his work.

I have to admit I'm a little unsatisfied with this photo, I wish I could extend the bottom of the frame. If only I had a 14 mm prime... maybe I could have had a tad more in the picture.

Perfect place for a masquerade, and maybe an auction if you're being blackmailed about your opera...

As a huge Phantom phan, I went there a couple of years ago. Ahh such a beautiful place...

This was by far one of the highlights of my Paris trip!
