if a family is poor and lives in public housing, a family member released from prison can't live there. what are they supposed to do? if you're poor and convicted of a felony, IT IS ALWAYS A LIFE SENTENCE.
Prisoners working fire duty actually get picked up by fire stations after they patrol in large numbers. The California fire departments are always in need of new bodies. Source watched a documentary and think I am now an expert.

I'm a firefighter. I'm working on these fires. I've worked with tons of ex cons who work in fire. Crew bosses. Captains. Even chiefs.
