Same thing happened to my wife many years ago. When the cops visited the guy, he still tried to deny it. Not sure if he was ever charged by the police, but his insurance company paid in full based on the evidence, so we came out fine.
Something like this happened at my security job years ago. Guy rammed one of the entrance gates and kept going, figured he wouldn't get caught I guess. But when we went to move the mechanism out of the roadway his front license plate was stuck to it, the stand tore it right off his car. Whoops.
