There's propaganda for the empire and/or its military-industrial complex in all these comic book movies (there was a story just recently), Transformers is maybe only the more obvious example. It's just not a smart idea to make it official.

edit: If you want a more systemic look at propaganda and the production and reproduction of ideology I can recommend Michael Parenti's books Inventing Reality The Politics Of News Media and Make-Believe Media The Politics Of Entertainment. Both are accessible (easy to understand I mean), very insightful and cheap to get second hand.

I live down the road from The Grumman plant on Long Island. While I’m not going to defend that awful corporation that polluted the water in my community and refused to pay to clean it up, I think this has something to do with the fact that Marvel shoots many of its movies at the Grumman Studios sound stage.
