A cousin of mine turned down a full-ride scholarship to a Major university to play basketball. He decided to stay in our home town and play at the community college so he could stay near his girlfriend. She ends up pregnant by him so he drops out of school to get a job to support her and the baby. They end up splitting less than two years after the baby is born. The scholarship didn’t come to light until after the split and he was talking about his regrets. Last I heard he is struggling to make ends meet because of child support.

Boyfriend abandons path to paid college to please girlfriend.
Boyfriend works mediocre job, loses sense of purpose, gets depressed. Boyfriend ends up no longer being the person girl fell in love with.
Girlfriend says "I don't know, we just don't have that spark that we used to" and leaves.
