Drunk driving as a percentage of fatalities has not decreased, but the total number of traffic fatalities has decreased. Car accidents are either less fatal or less fatal accidents are occurring. Hard to tell if the same number of cars are on the road, but the number of cars registers to drive has only increased. If there are more cars on the road, that suggests car accidents are less fatal rather than just less likely to occur. Note, the total number of injury accidents also went down, but there are few statistics on harmless accidents.

That decrease also coincides with the expansion of side impact airbags. Sadly, that expansion comes alongside new federal standards, not the sort of self-organizing behavior a libertarian would prefer. That doesn't mean Uber and Lyft aren't influencing the trend, but only that it would be impossible to actually make this claim without first eliminating the other potential factors, INCLUDING non-punitive government action.

Still, DUI checkpoints are crap for moral and ethical reasons, not just practical ones.

Are there actual statistics on this?

Isn't this a bad example as those companies treat their workers like shit, which is a general fear when it comes to libertarianism?
