funny fact is that during this period the soviet (not russian) army fed those bears with canned milk that was high in fat and people didnt like it that much, but bears did. other supplies were short but the canned milk wasnt so they gave it to the bears and made friends with them, there are unique photos of soldiers feeding young cubs and this doesnt happen often as mother bears usually defend the young ones and never let them interact with humans
