Should there not be an edge with a rubber gasket around the trunk body opening to redirect water?

My car kind of does this. When you open it the water falls into a channel that redirects around the trunk space. On a side note, this guy is really advertising to get his tools stolen.

No it doesn't. I believe this is a late 90's firebird and, if it is, then the glass open with the trunk
