My cat is permanently banned from leaving the house because I have a neighbor that brings my cat into their house and wont let him out until I physically go and pick him up myself. Jerks.
Meanwhile there's my cat who will only mildly tolerate other people and will only cozy up to me. It bums my friends out, but I have to admit it's doing great things for my ego.
When I was a kid, the family cat Smokey used to wander the neighborhood constantly. One of his "stops" was a neighbors house a few blocks down. They would let him inside, he'd take a nap on their bed, then they'd let him back out when he was done.
We found this out because we took him to the vet one afternoon and we got a very concerned call from the neighbor asking if he was okay, since he hadn't come by that day for his nap.
