Yeah, it's why I never understand all those 'just fly' comments. Nothing beats a train trip from Italy to Germany, bring a bottle of wine, a good book, smokes and enjoy the views. Rail travel in europe is the ultimate landscape cruise.

The same thing happened when I took the train into the Cinque Terre in Italy 10 years ago. As soon as we came through a tunnel and you could see the water and the cliffs for the first time, there was an audible gasp. It was awesome!
