Netflix’s dystopian sci-fi program "Black Mirror" has won the 2017 Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie for their season 3 episode “San Junipero.” Charlie Brooker said in his acceptance speech, “I’ve heard 2017 described as being trapped in one long unending ‘Black Mirror’ episode, but I like to think if I had written it, it wouldn’t be quite so on the nose with all the Nazis and hate.” Watch below. A virtual reality love story starring actors Mackenzie Davis and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the episode garnered critical acclaim and became a stand-out piece amongst the more cynical stories of the series.
“San Junipero” won over “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” on NBC, “Sherlock: The Lying Detective (Masterpiece)” on PBS, and more. Brooker also took home an Emmy for Best Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Drama. “Black Mirror” recently detailed its upcoming fourth season, which is “coming soon” according to the trailer. Last year, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow soundtracked the episode “Men Against Fire” with Ben Salisbury.

I tried to watch that one about a month after my wife died of cancer. I have never been able to watch it all the way through.

San Junipero came as a nice surprise after some of the other episodes, I waited for something awful to happen and I was touched to find that they chose to tell a beautiful story instead. Bravo, and much deserved Emmy!
