Yes, these positions (Cso, cio, etc) are often from IT, but they are management positions and to get this high up in a company, remember this:

How many fucking degrees do you have to have to know that critical updates should be installed ASAP, particularly with regard to internet-facing software? My cat knows that by now.

Yeah, because everyone in fucking tech went to school for it. What?! Dude I went to school for AE, ended up working for a tech company and had to pick up coding and other skills as I went. Some of my best employees didn't even go to college, and if they did didn't finish.
