What's in the bags? Compost?

How exactly did you do this? Did you buy spores?

I actually recommend having the logs hung horizontally. Hanging vertically like this causes the top to dry out faster than the bottom.

Someone earlier was asking what is inside:

Ideally, you'd have a good substrate mix such as Coco Coir, Verm, Gypsum, (some horse poo if desired). Usually a 650 gram black of coir, 2 quarts of verm, 1 cup of gypsum and 5 or 6 quarts of water will do. Pasteurize this (160 degree water for at least 2 hours) and bring to field capacity (holding as much water as it can without being a soppy mess)

Mix this moisturized and pasteurized substrate with a colonized grain. Place this into the plastic 'logs' and allow to fully colonize. Then cut slits into the bag to introduce fresh air exchange, inducing fruiting.

Colonized grain: Obtain this by introducing one drop of spore solution to an agar dish. Once agar is colonized and proves to be contaminate free, cut agar into wedges and transfer to sterilized grain bags/jars. Oats with the hulls on is a great and easy grain to use. Allow these bags or jars to fully colonize
