A Twitter post from the account of Jason Kessler, the far-right activist who organized the Charlottesville, Va., “Unite the Right” rally, insulted the protester who was killed at the event, saying late Friday night that her death was “payback time.”

“Heather Heyer was a fat, disgusting Communist,” the post said. “Communists have killed 94 million. Looks like it was payback time.”

The post linked to a story on neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer that also insulted Heyer in crude terms and appeared to take glee in her death.

Kessler did not respond to messages seeking comment.

Police say Heyer was killed when a rally attendee, James A. Fields, drove his sports car into a crowd of counterprotesters at the event Aug. 12, which drew white nationalists, neo-Nazis and other far-right figures from around the nation.

This was the rally organizer.

The reason I point that out is that there are a lot of people who seem to be under the hazy impression that this was just some sort of right-wing rally that happened to be attended by a bunch of Nazis, white supremacists and generally despicable people. The guy who organized the rally himself said of the dead woman:

“Heather Heyer was a fat, disgusting Communist”

The President, in an attempt to muddy the waters with equivocation, insisted that there were some "very fine people" attending this rally, one in which people chanted "Blood and Soil" and "Jews will not replace us." We can be sure that the President was fully informed of the content and nature of this rally, as he insisted that he waited an uncharacteristically long time to comment in order to gather all the facts. So the questions then become:

Who were the "good people" at this rally - the one organized by a white supremacists, punctuated by Nazi slogans and capped off with murder?

And why does the President defend them?

The thing that pisses me off the most about their "justifications" is that they say black people can have pride but white people can't.

That is total bullshit.

I'll give you an appropriate example of white people having pride in their heritage:

my town was in part founded by a Swedish immigrant about 100 years ago. A lot of Swedish people came here and set up a cultural center. Each year they have a festival for people to eat Swedish food and sing Swedish songs and learn about the culture.

These are white people joyfully celebrating their culture without excluding, let alone denigrating, anyone else's. No one pickets, everyone has waffles. That is how celebrating your heritage is meant to be.
