It's so hard to imagine how these guys jumped out of the relative safety of the landing craft, both on Normandy and all across the Pacific. How the hell did they move forward with the big brass balls swinging between their legs?
This image makes my heart so effing heavy. I can hardly imagine the stark terror of facing the drop of that ramp. The sounds of machine guns firing, explosions, and the yells of those lying on the ground, mortally wounded. I struggle to make cold calls, yet these guys faced a near certain death by gunfire.
