Lost cats with collars and proper ID tags can be returned to their owners.
Lost cats without collars and proper ID tags may be sent to a kill shelter.

We bought breakaways for our boy when he was a kitten.
We could never understand why he only had them for a few hours before he would come back naked.
He had found a gap in the fence that was just right for catching the clasp and tearing them off.
We found his collar stash when we trimmed the bushes.
