I remember reading that the boy was reluctant to touch the President's hair, and Obama had to coax him a bit by saying something along the lines of "touch it, dude!"
In the same article it stated that pics displayed at the White House are constantly changed out, but this one stayed up because so many found it so inspirational. I'll see if I can find the article.

While I disagreed with some of his key policies, he was so a down to earth and relatable that I miss that part of his presidency.
