My trick I use, for moving my dresser and the clothes in it: Rather than take everything out and pack it into boxes, I just take the drawers out (with the clothes in them, they don't weigh much) and stack them in the car/truck/whatever. Then I transport the dresser separately. Doesn't require any packing or unpacking and it makes the dresser itself lighter and easier to manage.

Turn the bag upside down...poke a hole in the middle...and you have a garment bag. And the rain won't get into it.
