One of the problems with living plant memorials.

This reminds me of a city council meeting I was at once.

Some very unpopular council members were asking for a veterans memorial next to city hall where the flag was.

A more popular city council member who was a mailman, walked the entire city for years replied.

"We have a memorial in <specific name park> it has been there since the 60s. I think instead of adding new memorials perhaps we should maintain the ones we already have as the concrete crying eagle is in a state of disrepair."

It is easy to tell the difference between those who have done their homework and those who are here for the show.

Edit: He would campaign by walking his route for the mail, then walking it again and knocking on every door to say hello and tell everyone he was running for council. Super cool guy. Super tall too.

It looks like the tree was around 100 years old.

Devils advocate: the tree may have been sick or dying and posed a potential hazard, so was cut down to prevent it from toppling into the road or squashing a pedestrian.

Also, If you plant a tree with metal plaque, you should expect that plaque to outlive the tree.
