He probably has some stories to tell.

Awesome! My great grandfather was chief of our reserve too! He is a well renowned wood carver, and wrote a book about his life and experiences with the residential school system. We are in Ontario

Edit Renowned ** not renounced lol

Wow!! I want to say thank to everyone for their positive comments, questions and interests in this photo, our culture, and my Great Grandfather!!

I am going to try to answer all your questions to the best of my knowledge. Some questions I will have to discuss with my family to make sure I'm answering correctly and truthfully.

Some general facts for now: He and my family are Plains Cree from Frog Lake, Alberta. It is small reserve about 3 hours northeast from Edmonton.

This photo was taken in the 1970s either in Frog Lake or Saddle Lake at a pow-wow I'm pretty sure as you can see another Chief in the background wearing a red and white headdress.

My Great Grandfather was a WWII Vet and his was primarily stationed in Italy during the war.

My Great Grandfather had passed away a few as well as my Great Grandmother but I did grow up around them and got to know them quite well.
