Nintendo has published their sales figures for the quarter ending July 30th, 2017. The data was updated to show that the Switch has sold 4.7 million units in just four months of being on sale. This is despite numerous supply issues with the console, which no doubt will have hindered sales figures.

Although some fans may not even be able to get their hands on the somewhat illustrious Switch, their enthusiasm seems to remain as high as ever. Take this article from Kotaku for example; people in Japan are still quite literally queuing in their thousands for a mere chance to buy a Nintendo Switch. Approximately 2,100 people queued for a raffle ticket that would allow them to buy the console only if their number was called. With this madness in mind, it’s easy to see why Nintendo are full of optimism and forecasting that they’ll have sold 12.74 million units by the end of March 2018.

The Switch’s Games Are Selling Well Too

Also published was a number of units sold for Nintendo owned games currently available on the Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild selling the most with 3.92 million units sold, meaning that over two-thirds of Switch patrons have a copy of the title. Not far behind is Mario Kart 8 with 3.54 million sold, and then 1-2-Switch with 1.22 million and Arms just behind that with 1.18. The cut off for the fiscal quarter just missed the release of Nintendo’s latest IP, Splatoon 2 which has proved popular among fans and critics. So this will have almost definitely given another boost to the sales figures since the cut-off.

Now if only Nintendo could find the ability to make enough stock for everyone, I’m sure we’d all happily help them toward their next release of financial figures.

For those curious: the Wii U sold 3.45 mil units in it's first 4 months and the 3DS sold 4.32 million units.

Those are some pretty darn good numbers and aren't too far behind that of the PS4 during its first few months.
