Shit's going down on Reddit - your favorite sub is suddenly private, an admin is fired, the CEO has been caught with his fingers in the comments database... where do you go to find out what the hell going on?

Back in 2011, there were a string of posts on /r/reddit.com and several other subreddits about mods either overstepping their bounds, or going completely drunk with power. Typical things: Deleted comment threads for no apparent reason, mods ruling based on opinion instead of fact, etc. In this post about some happenings on /r/ArtisanVideos, someone explicitly asked of the existance of a subreddit for subreddit drama. With that in mind, SRD was created.

Initially founded as a subreddit for general drama and calling out mod abuse, as the community grew the subreddit's purpose shifted to a place to draw entertainment out of other people fighting. It's also become THE place on Reddit to keep tabs on what's going on with Reddit itself - who's fighting with whom, what sub is causing trouble, admin shenanigans, and to highlight the general slapfights over silliness like how well done your steak is that abound in just about every community.

If you're a meta redditor, if you like drama, or you want to know keep up with whatever current reddit shitstorm is brewing, /r/subredditdrama is the place to go.

How is /r/subredditdrama different than /r/drama? Zachums Known for being South Park Neutrals™, we at SRD encourage people to be level-headed with their comments. We're all here to laugh at the monkeys throwing poop at each other, not to throw our own poop. Compared to /r/drama, where everyone is covered in shit and revels in it. stopscopiesme /r/subredditdrama is bigger and better nyanderechan Longer name. TheLadyEve Cynically speaking, some people use SRD as a self-righteous soapbox while some people use Drama as a self-righteous soapbox, but with name-calling. Seriously, though, I would say the big difference is that SRD is moderated to be a place where civil discussions are encouraged, while Drama isn't concerned with the discussion at all. They have a sidebar saying in /r/Drama that is something to the effect of "where you go to unwind after being good in SRD all day long." I think that sums it up nicely. What do you like about SRD? Zachums Since the submission standards are (on average) higher for a meta sub, you get some very unique posts that won't be appreciated on other drama subreddits. Drama such as bickering on /r/parenting, /r/occult, etc. Obscure drama is some of my favorite. stopscopiesme The recaps are often really well done and are great for catching up on stuff you missed nyanderechan I get to experience pedantry and pettiness at a safe distance with no real effort required on my part to actually find it. Also the genuinely weird stuff that shows up from time to time. TheLadyEve Great variety of posts, generally a fun atmosphere, and of course our mod team is the best mod team, big league, fantastic. What has been your favorite SRD thread? Zachums Any of mine. ;) stopscopiesme Anything involving Darqqwolf nyanderechan That weird one from /r/occult where the llama floated into the thread and started offering life advice. Great fun. TheLadyEve Since I'm the food drama person, I would be remiss if I didn't mention ajvar which is one of my favorite food posts of all time.

Well, the drama is going to be coming from inside the sub for the next couple of days.

You've made a terrible mistake.

Lol, Zachums you're deluding yourself.
