South African deep fried dough braids soaked in syrup flavoured with cinnamon. Kind of like a braided churro.
I worked in SA a while back and used to eat a lot of these. It's going on five years since I was last there so I figured I'd make some!

Oh man, I'm in SA right now (first time since I moved to USA 21 years ago) and I still haven't had any good koeksisters. Picked up some at a small pick n pay, but that's all. Going to Bloem on Monday from philoppolis, hopefully I'll find some there
