I'd be interested in knowing what happens when in an instant the power is restored and 12,000,000 air conditioners, refrigerators and water heaters all being drawing current at the same time! How long does it take the grid to stabilize? Milliseconds? Or Minutes?

During the 2012 blackout in NYC I drank at a downtown bar in a neighborhood with no power. It was a fucking blast.
