The good thing is that there's a plan to save them. The plan consists in 'closing' a section of the Gulf and having them live and reproduce in a controlled section of their habitat while being protected and having a scientist team working to avoid their extintion.
The bad news are that it is kind of a last resort: if it doesn't work there will be nothing else we can do.
