My mom had a lumpia stand at a fairgrounds in a small rural town when I was a kid. Like, 90% of the town was white and had never had it before, and I remember at first it was really slow and no one wanted any. But once people started trying them, word spread and it became so popular that my parents couldn't keep up and had to shut down early every day. They made a lot of money doing that but it ended up being too much work (making thousands and thousands of lumpia is no joke). I remember people started asking if they could do orders for weddings and stuff too loooool. Straight up lumpia monopoly in rural midwest USA.
