It's the curvature that sells it.

The lighting is incredible, the texture in the buildings shines, the foliage hints of bamboo or maple, the shadows are excellent, and the composure properly leads the eye... but the curvature of the buildings speaks to a different culture from my own more than anything else.

Well done to the artist.

This almost looks like a reflection of the scene in a curved mirror. It would be interesting to compare to the original scene to see how much of this was a trick of the architecture and how much was your personal perspective. Looks excellent. I love the values on the highlighted side of the street.
