I wonder if this is intentional. If it is, that's some serious creative insight by the architect. I imagine them mentally walking through their hypothetical building, getting to the stairwell, and then having this idea formulate in their fantasy. It's amazing to see something you've thought of in your head manifested into reality in such a tangible way.
