There’s a retro space-age feel to this abandoned observation tower in the Bahamas, which until the late ’90s was part of Coral Island Nassau. Famous for its underwater observatory, the park opened in 1987 as a beach resort and aquarium. It was sold to the owners of the Marriot Nassau Beach Hotel in 1995 and today operates under the banner of Silver Cay. But the former observation tower, which stands on an artificial island, remains disused and cut off from the mainland.

The abandoned structure is now a widely-recognised landmark that still captures the attention of park visitors, even though they can no longer reach it. The former Coral Island Nassau observation tower was badly damaged in 1999 by Hurricane Floyd, and the pier that once connected it to Nassau has now collapsed.

There are others like it still in use today Coralworld, in Eliat, Israel has a design almost identical.

Wow I know we've had some flooding at the Toronto islands, but I didn't realize it was this bad!

Great zombie-Apocalypse setup. Unlimited sea-food, 360 degree view of surroundings, easily defensible, not too far from shore for emergencies, and not even multiple hordes could hope to clamber up the side of that thing.
