He never left the bank after he robbed it. When there cops came through, he game the money back. The only money he owed was for sending employees home even though they still got paid and extras money for the teller he robbed. He had no weapon and even the teller felt bad for him and his condition.

Read the article, its actually a sweet story in the end. The guy had just had heart surgery, was having depression issues and the robbery was his cry for help. Now that he is on proper meds he feels like his old self, his wife was even at his court hearing with him to support this sentencing. Even the bank teller he frightened supported this sentencing. This story shows a rational application of unusual sentencing and a good judge making the decisions.
