Matthew McConaughey was dazed and arrested when police busted him for suspected marijuana possession years ago, but he doesn’t regret it one bit.

The Oscar-winning actor in a recent interview with Playboy recalled the 1999 incident when cops were called to his Texas home after he was spotted playing the bongos and dancing in the buff while another man joined in and clapped along.

“I saw the cop’s eyes get big when he identified me,” he explained, “and it became, ‘Oh, look what we’ve got here.’ ”

McConaughey said he called his mother first when he was booked on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting transportation — he allegedly ignored an officer’s request to put on pants and shoved the cop after he attempted to get him into the squad car.

The actor spent nine hours in county jail before he was released on $1,000 bond and the drug charges were eventually dropped.

“I was not raised to be in jail,” the 47-year-old celebrity told the magazine. “What’s wrong with beating on your drums in your birthday suit? I have no regrets about the way I got there.”

The “Dallas Buyers Club” star also said there was a lesson to be learned from the entire incident.

“Shut the window that has the beautiful scent of jasmine blowing in because it’s two in the morning and you might wake a neighbor.”

The drug charges against McConaughey were eventually dropped, though the star did plead guilty to violating Austin's noise ordinance, for which he paid a $50 fine.
