This is one of my oldest jokes and I've probably only done it on stage a couple dozen times. It never really resonated on stage aside from a couple times. It's in a batch of jokes I personally really like but don't ever work on stage. Those include "I grew up thinking the Red Sea was the third book in the Scarlet letter trilogy" and "I've been sending "get well soon" cards to all my friends who haven't paid their water bill."
A day after I posted it; it ended up on /r/funny and flew around the internet. People on twitter started throwing it out as their own. To date this is my most frequently stolen joke. Part of the reason I don't do it anymore is the fact that this joke now belongs to the internet.
But yeah. Four years ago. And I'm still posting here and hanging out. Cuz I like you guys. And when I post here promoting the tour I'm going on it's cuz I've had a good time in the past meeting folks from Reddit. I'm not sitting here like "oh hell ya we're gonna get 200 redditors a show!"
The reality is I post the dates and a couple people come out to the shows. These are fun DIY shows in small rooms. Come out and have some drinks with us during and after the shows and help us find places to play pinball. (Alex is fanatical about pinball. Last tour I think we played every day.)
So yeah. Tomorrow I'm going on tour with my buddy Alex. The dates are up on his website at www.alexstypula.com/shows come chill.
