The best cat I had was a 9 month old kitten found crying (probably abandon) in the alley behind my house in Chicago. She came right to me when I put my hands out. I stuffed her in my coat, took her home and we lived happily ever after.

My cat thought she could continue this habit well into a plump adulthood and I have the scars to prove it.
