Iran says London attacks 'wake up call', urges uprooting terrorism sources

DUBAI Iran said on Sunday the London attacks were a "wake-up call" and urged Western states to go after ideological and financial sources of terrorism, state media reported, in a thinly veiled reference to Saudi Arabia.

Three attackers drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing revellers nearby on Saturday night, killing at least seven people in what Britain said was the work of Islamist militants engaged in a "new trend" of terrorism.

"Repeated blind terror attacks around the world are a wake-up call for the world community," the official Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi as saying.

"To uproot terror, it is necessary that they (Western states) address the root causes as well as the main financial and ideological sources of extremism and violence, which are clear to everyone," Qasemi was quoted as saying by Press TV.

Iran denies Western charges of sponsoring terrorism, and accuses Saudi Arabia's Wahhabi brand of Sunni Islam and funding from its arch-rival of being behind Sunni militant groups who have been behind a recent spate of deadly attacks in Europe.

Saudi Arabia, the bastion of Sunni Islam and a close U.S. ally, denies backing terrorism and has cracked down on jihadists at home, jailing thousands, stopping hundreds from travelling to fight abroad and cutting militant finances.

Shi'ite Muslim power Iran and Saudi Arabia are longstanding religious and political arch-rivals and often accuse each other of backing terrorism. Relations are fraught as they support each other's foes in regional wars such as in Yemen, Iraq and Syria.

Well they are not wrong. Saudi Arabia as a nation is not only cancerous but also dangerous since they got means and resources to finance a lot of shit. A medieval minded Islamic government with excess oil cash is a recipe for the disasters (note that there is so much internal conflict in the royal family and only parts of royal family supports Wahhabi terrorist, if reports are to be believed)

Saudi Arabia has no penal code, and defaults its law entirely to Sharia and its implementation to religious courts. And the school curriculum quotes Mohammed saying "Whoever changes his religion, kill him. There is no use from his living" Source

They abolished slavery in 1962, Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan publicly endorse the practice in 2003, stating "Slavery is a part of Islam" and whoever wants it abolished is "an infidel." Source

Saudi Arabian textbooks, which are used by Muslim schools around the world, teach students that homosexuals should be executed, that Jews are "Apes", and that Christians are "Swine" and "Muslims will kill all the Jews" Source

In 2002, 15 girls died in Saudi Arabia after the religious police refused to let them leave their burning building because they were not wearing correct Islamic dress. Source

And there is a lot more, related to mistreatment of women and migrant workers. How long will the world look the other way for all the shit they have been pulling? Only if we by and large moved to better energy sources and ceased to depend on crude oil!

P.S. All the facts pulled from various /r/TIL_Uncensored posts.

Call me crazy, but there is nothing even remotely thinly veiled here. Iran has been pretty consistent with taking jabs at SA over this issue, and they are right to do so, still disenheartening that there is a clear lack of political will and too much special interest at work, at least for now.
