Ron Paul is one person, so the singular form should be used.

I remember back when libertarians cheered Ron Paul for voting "no" on the Rosa Parks medal, claiming that it was an unconstitutional use of tax dollars. Even though that was completely contradicted by the text of the bill, which said that the medal would be funded via the sale of bronze replicas)

SEC. 5. FUNDING.

(a) Authority To Use Fund Amounts.--There is authorized to be charged against the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund an amount not to exceed $30,000 to pay for the cost of the medals authorized by this Act.

(b) Proceeds of Sale.--Amounts received from the sale of duplicate bronze medals under section 3 shall be deposited in the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund.

Moreover, the US mint is a self-funded agency that actually runs a surplus which goes into the general treasury fund. In other words, the Rosa Parks medal would actually decrease the burden on tax payers, rather than increasing it.

When confronted with this fact, the Paulbots refused to accept that their dear messiah could ever be wrong. So they insisted that the actual text of the bill was false, and that Ron Paul was in the right, because Ron Paul would never said something that wasn't true. They don't acknowledge the text of the bill because it proves that their God is fallible.

In other news, evolution is a hoax because Ron Paul says so. Why does Ron Paul oppose Darwin? According to his fans, because he read it.
