American Airlines, Inc. (AA), commonly referred to as American, is a major American airline headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. It is the world's largest airline when measured by fleet size, revenue, scheduled passenger-kilometres flown, and number of destinations served.
Ranking these by market cap just shows you biggest airline by equity value. This has nothing to do with routes, passengers, miles flown, fleet size, etc. Equity value is just a function of what the market is willing to value the company at and what the rest of the capital structure (debt) looks like.
