After

12 months 11 levels 10 different characters 9 dead giants 8 ancient artifacts recovered 7 dungeons explored 6 factions 5 players 4 people dumb enough to draw from the Deck of Many Things 3 demonic pacts 2 Wish spells And 1 very tired DM

my current D&D campaign has come to an end. At the last moment, they learned that even gods may die if you hit them hard enough in the head with a hammer. Fittingly it was the Paladin who delivered the deathblow to the Becki, the God of Light and Storms. His player walked away with the Godslayer dicebox and dice set.

Everyone seemed floored by the trophies, so I'm glad I dropped the cash on those. All in all, pretty successful campaign. I should probably do a write-up of the full story arc sometime.

We're doing character creation for the next campaign very soon. Maybe this time they'll put together a balanced party.

[Spoiler: They will not. It will be all Damage classes with maybe one Support or Tank class if I'm very, very lucky.]

(Clarifying edit: Since the title is vague, this game has only been going on for a year. The 25 years reference is how long I've been running D&D.)

I'm so close...tonight will mark the beginning of the end of this year and a half long campaign. I only have about 2, maybe 3 long sessions left, and it'll be my first campaign I've started and finished as a DM. And I wrote it myself. This game has survived:

A player leaving because he suddenly moved to Germany.

Another player moving to Boston.

A player fighting a custody battle.

The host player having to kick out 2 roommates at 2 different times in the middle of a session. One of which kicked a dog and I almost bitchslapped her.

A brand new player, who ended up loving D&D, although said new player almost made the game go FUBAR and have to end.

Me getting kicked out of my parent's house on game day.

And probably more I can't remember. It's been a wild year and a half for this adventure, and the real world has thrown almost as many traps at us as I have at my players. Half of the players are not even the original starting party. But I can almost certainly say I did it. I'm so close to finally finishing.
