I wrote this response but the comment got deleted. I spent time on it so I'm posting it anyway. If a Trump supporter truly cannot understand why this is a big deal, this is how I describe it.
Imagine we're best friends. We share everything together. Long walks on the beach, pizza, video games. We've been besties for a long time. Now, we also share secrets. Maybe you tell me who you like in school and I tell you how I think Mrs. Hottits that teaches algebra is fine af. We share everything because it benefits both of us.
Now, imagine that scenario again. This time the school bully who has been pushing our buttons since grade 1 comes up to talk to me. This bully has no interest in helping me. They haven't shown any indication of wanting to help me. In fact, for the last 15 years they have been actively working to kick me out of school or ruin any chance of being a successful student. Despite all of this information I have from 15 years of existing alongside this bully, I decide to tell him some of your secrets you trusted me with. Secrets I promised not to tell anyone. Ever. Maybe not your deepest darkest secrets but still something you did not want me sharing with anyone, let alone the school bully. But I did anyway. Why? Who fucking knows. But are you going to tell me even the smallest of secrets now? I can't be trusted with serious shit. How about our other friends. They saw how easily I threw you under the bus and how carelessly I handled your trust. No one is going to tell me any secrets. Hell, they may never tell me anything now.
Why would they trust me with anything now that they've seen how careless I am with their important Secrets?
That's the best way I could possibly describe it. If you don't understand why this is a big deal and wrong, you never will.

Trump hires Mike Flynn against the advice of basically everyone.
Flynn is revealed to have had undisclosed meetings with russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, which opens him up to potential blackmail and security breaches.
Trump defends Flynn until a WaPo story reveals Flynn's Russian connections, at which point Flynn is promptly fired.
Comey and the FBI investigate trump administration's connections with Russia.
White House gives official statement saying Comey firing has nothing to do with Russia.
In an interview shortly after the firing, trump goes against the WH statement and clearly states he fired Comey for investigating the russian connection.
The very next day, trump has a meeting with russian ambassadors, including Sergey Kislyak, in a meeting closed to the US press, but open to russian press.
In that meeting trump revealed information classified at the very highest level of secrecy, shared with us by intelligence allies who explicitly stated the information was not to be distributed.
trump supporters 'defend' this revelation with; '...but hillary!'
