Reminds me of Max Payne quote "You think a piece of shit feels popular because it's surrounded by flies" ?

I live in one of the most liberal places in the country, liberal enough to have a legit socialist city council member. My dad fancies himself an intellectual and a progressive and I grew up talking politics with him regularly. We regularly watched MSNBC, read The New York Times and listened to NPR. As my views shifted further left I found myself clashing with him more. In the last election I tried to get him to read and watch more stuff outside the mainstream like Democracy Now!, Jacobin, and The Real News Network. But he didn't take to it. When I came home for Christmas I saw he had subscribed to The Economist and The Atlantic, neoliberal staples. While nowhere near as bad as the rightwing media cult, there's this intellectual worship of a bunch of media institutions that just function as propaganda centers for neoliberal policies. It's completely ensnared liberals in the US.

I hate this old phrase of "# of X can't be wrong."

If you're wrong, you're wrong. No arbitrary number of people being ignorant can make something true.
