Buzz Aldrin is a hero, but not just for the reasons you might think.
Imagine being in the prime of your life, and achieving the one thing that nobody has ever done before.
Now, once you get back to earth... What do you do?
You've literally gone further than any human on earth - What is there left to do?
Unsurprisingly, Aldrin fell into a deep depression, became an alcoholic, and became abusive. He eventually sought treatment and got his life back.
I write this not to denigrate the hero that is Buzz Aldrin, but to let people know that a hero isn't just measured by his deeds, but by the obstacles he overcomes. Eugene Aldrin should be a testament to the fact that we can not only conquer the greatest heights of humanity, but the greatest obstacles within us.
